Shelburne resident to serve as Co-Director for FEED

SHELBURNE - Kim Norris, of Shelburne, is the new Co-Director of Food Education Every Day (FEED). She has joined the team at Shelburne Farms, partnering with Northeast Organic Farmers Association and FoodWorks of Montpelier to work with schools and communities to raise awareness about healthy food, the role of Vermont farms and farmers, and good nutrition. FEED acts as a catalyst for building healthy food systems, and cultivating links between the classrooms, cafeterias, local farms, and communities. Our environment tomorrow depends upon what our children experience today, said Norris. By working with food and the food system, we are affecting ecological systems and issues. With undergraduate studies in ecology, a masters degree in education and a doctorate in ecological systems, and experience ranging from being the academic chair for the Seaborne Conservation Corps in Galveston , Texas, to her most recent job as Vermont Department of Education K-12 Coordinator for Life Long Learning, Norris comes to her new state-wide job ready to apply her expertise to the FEED mission.
