Champlain Valley Exposition hosts first ever All Sports Recreation and Fitness Expo

ESSEX JUNCTION -- The Champlain Valley Exposition played host to the inagural All Sports Recreation and Fitness Expo last weekend, an event presented and sponsored by MVP Health Care. The two-day event was a great success, bringing visitors information about the sports and outdoor lifestyles enjoyed by Vermonters and New Englanders alike. The event featured approximately 60 demonstrations, seminars and hands-on activities that featured everything from dog agility training and sportsmanship in youth sports, to skiing and creating healthy nutritional programs. 100 exhibitors signed up for the event, and there was something for everyone. There was golf, yoga, extreme sports, and both team and individual sports. Although the event was great fun for those in attendance and good business for those organizations that participated, Tom Torti, president of the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, told the public that the events biggest contribution was to the local and regional economies of Vermont. Because the event was held at the end of the leaf peeping season, it helped to fill in the tourism gap that often occurs before ski season and the holidays. The All Sports Expo was designed in 2006, when CVE began forging partnerships with representatives from sports, recreation and fitness sectors. The events sponsors includedthe Vermont Outdoor Guide Association, Green Mountain Glades, Vermont Sports Magazine, The Soccer Centre at CVE (Nordic Soccer Club and Far Post Soccer Club) JMM and Associates, Smugglers Notch Resort, The Burlington Free Press, 104.7 FM The Point and ESPN Radio.
