CCC lecture slated in Ti

TICONDEROGA The Ticonderoga Community Program Series will kick off its series of programs for 2007-08 with a presentation by Marty Podskoch on the Civilian Conservation Corps. The program will take place at the Ticonderoga Heritage Museum on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. Podskoch, author of three books on the history and lore of fire towers in the Catskills and Adirondacks, will talk about the Civilian Conservation Corps. The year 2008 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the CCC in 1933 at the outset of Franklin D. Roosevelts presidency. The presentation will contain pictures and stories Podskoch has gathered from interviewing CCC members and their families, many of them in the Adirondacks. Along with his presentation, Podskoch will involve the audience, and relate stories from his latest book: Adirondack Stories: Historical Sketches. This program is free and open to the public, thanks in part to a grant from the South Lake Champlain Trust. The Ticonderoga Community Program Series is a cooperative program of Fort Ticonderoga, Ticonderoga Cartoon Museum, Ticonderoga Heritage Museum and Ticonderoga Historical Society. This is the first program of the new series which runs through May 2008. For further information about the lecture series call Fort Ticonderoga at 585-2821.
