UVM wins 3-1 over New Hampshire DURHAM, N.H. T.J. Stony Brook wins in OT STONY BROOK, N.Y. A goal by Matt Avelleno 44 seconds into overtime gave Stony Brook a 1-0 win over Vermont in America East mens soccer Saturday night at Lavalle Stadium. The loss drops the Catamounts to 4-9-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play. A game after scoring a season-high three times at New Hampshire Wednesday, Vermont could only muster six shots against the Seawolves (7-4-2, 1-1-1) who won for the first time in the America East. The Catamounts best chance was by Lee Stephane Kouadio (Woodlyn, Pa.) in the 80th minute. Kouadio slipped through two defenders but his drive from the eight yards out was saved by a diving SBU keeper Dawid Ditrich. On the game-winner, Avellinos 30-yard blast was tipped by a leaping Vermont goalie Roger Scully (East Lyme, Conn.) before finding the net. In a game played primarily in the midfield, Stony Brook had only 12 shots with just three on target as Scully finished with two saves. SBU also had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Ditrich made four saves in recording his third shutout of the season.
