St. Mikes finish second COLCHESTER The Saint Michael's College men's and women's cross country teams both finished in second place in a three-team tri-meet held on campus on Friday afternoon. On the men's side, junior Matt Alexander (Richmond, Vt./Mount Mansfield Union) paced the Purple Knights, running the eight-kilometer course in 28:45, and on the women's side, junior Mary Lynn Denholm (Sparks, Md./Okemo Mountain) placed sixth overall, running the six-kilometer track in 24:10. Also for the Purple Knight men, freshman Brendan Flynn (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) was 18th in a time of 29:27. Freshman Scott Richter (Sheldon, Conn./Fairfield Prep), sophomore David Hiltz (Medfield, Mass./Medfield), and freshman Tyler Gillingham (North Pompret, Vt./Woodstock Union) rounded out the top five for Saint Michael's, as they placed 23rd, 24th and 25th, respectively, out of 32 finishers. For the Purple Knight women, junior Rachel Baxter (Rowayton, Conn./Proctor Academy) was 12th overall, and second for Saint Michael's, with a time of 25:00. Senior Courtney Richard (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) and sophomore Karyn Norwood (Marlborough, N.H./Keene) were 17th and 18th, respectively, and sophomore Lauren Fereshetian (Turner, Maine/Leavitt Area) rounded out the top-five for Saint Michael's with a 24th-place finish. She led a pack of six straight Purple Knight runners.
