Showing pride on 'Spirit Day'

Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer remain unbeaten
Both teams delivered on Spirit day, and both teams added wins to their already impressive records.

For the girls team, Erika Gobeille scored the only game of the contest half way through the first half of play. In the end, that goal proved to be the winning one, as the CVU girls soccer squad finished the day with a 1-0 victory over Mount Mansfield.

Gobeilles score came off a pass from Kendra Wilkins.

Abby Senesac turned in another gritty performance in net for the Lady Redhawks, who are still undefeated at 7-0-6.

The girls werent the only ones to finish the day still undefeated. The boyss team blanked Colchester High School 3-0, improving their overall record to an amazing 12-0-1.

Nate Sloma netted the first goal of the contest off an assist from Josh Parker

Chris Beaton and Tyler Macnee also scored for the Redhawks, with assists from Tyler Gagluiso and Tim Geigink, respectively.

CVUs defensive performance was so strong that a pair of Redhawks goaltenders didnt even need to attempt a save.

Field Hockey
CVU was holding on to a 2-1 lead with less than four minutes left in regulation when Lorelei Phillips netted a goal to secure a 2-2 tie for Mount Mansfield Union High School.

Ali Frey scored for the Redhawks and was followed up by Meghan Winget in the second half to give CVU a 2-1 lead that remained until the games final minutes.

The team is 6-6-3 following the tie.

The days final game was indeed a true test of spirit, as the varsity football team battled fiercely against a big, tough and talented Lakers (6-1) defense. In the end, Colchester walked away with the shutout, 34-0.

The Division II Colchester team essentially sealed off their win in the first half, with several touchdowns that came on both passing and rushing plays.
