Round of apologies

To the Editor:

At the Mount Abraham Union High School (MAUHS) Oct. 2 board meeting, there seemed to be some confusion on the pay the board members receive for the year so I feel compelled to write and set the record straight.

Mr. R. E. Merrill had sent an e-mail to our business manager at the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union office and asked for the pay of the board members (as he could not find any minutes on this matter which was taken up at the annual meeting in February 2007). Mr. Merrill then wrote a letter to the editor from the results he received from the manager .

So, to the board member who felt he had to beat up on Mr. Merrill, I feel you owe him an apology. The business manager also owes Mr. Merrill an apology.

I now understand a little more about why we can't seem to pass a state audit of our books when we can't even keep something as simple as the board members pay straight.

At the next scheduled board meeting, I will expect an apology to Mr. Merrill.

Thank you.
