Graveyard walks added to luncheon

WARRENSBURG Ghostly visitors from Warrensburgs past are expected to put in an extra appearance this year, at a luncheon at the Merrill Magee House. This is in addition to the Dinner with the Dead, also at the Merrill Magee House and two evening Graveyard Walks. A daytime guided tour will also be conducted for students of the fourth grade in Warrensburg Central School. Sponsored by the Warrensburgh Historical Society, these events have become a tradition since 2001, with sold-out audiences every year. Characters from Warrensburg's past will be portrayed in costume, as authentically as possible, and often with humor. The public is encouraged to make reservations early, as space is limited. Among the historic characters expected to visit are Warrensburgh News Editor and Publisher, John L. Tubbs, Town Supervisor Frank Smith and his wife, Bertha, and daughter Hilda, and Mrs. Winifred Messenger Hall. The Luncheon with the Dead will be at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the Merrill Magee House. Choices are chicken Caesar salad, penne primavera or open-faced beef tip sandwich. On Sunday, Oct. 28 a full course Dinner with the Dead will be served, also at the Merrill Magee House. Entree choices are grilled chicken carbonara, seared red snapper bruschetta or grilled beef terres steak. For reservations for either meal call the Merrill Magee House at 623-2449 at least three days prior to the event. Space is limited. Two Graveyard Walks will be conducted at Warrensburg Cemetery. On Friday, Oct. 19 the walk will be followed by refreshments at Rosemarys, 2 Cloverleaf Drive. The second walk will be on Friday, Oct. 26. It includes a gourmet dessert buffet at Cornerstone Victorian B&B, on Main Street. Both walks begin at 7 p.m. sharp. For tickets for either walk contact Marilyn Hayes at 623-3436 at least two days before the event. These walks are popular and space is limited.
