Two men were arrested in Cornwall by Vermont Drug Task Force officers Oct. 3. The men had a quantity of crack cocaine and were involved an "organized criminal element out of New York City, according to police. Sixteen grams of crack was seized with a street value of $1,600. Ibrahim A. Hammond, age 22, and Anthony Dean, age 21, both from New York, N.Y., were held on $50,000 bail in a Rutland jail. The pair appeared in Middleburys Vermont District Court and faced possession and sale of cocaine, conspiracy to dispense cocaine and aiding in the sale of cocaine charges. Regarding the organized crime element, police said there may be an inner-city gang connection to the Vermont drug trade. According to a task force news release, police obtained a search warrant for the Cornwall house after a long investigation.
