Ti school board appreciates support

To the Times of Ti:

The Ticonderoga Central School District Board of Education would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire community for supporting the passage of the Sept. 25 building project.

We realize that this was a difficult decision given the current system of school funding and the financial impact that this project will have on all tax payers. We also believe that this project will benefit the community as a whole and we encourage everyone to take advantage of them when they are completed.

As board members, we constantly strive to find the best ways to assist our students in meeting the ever-increasing demands of education in the 21st Century. State and federal mandates have raised standards for student achievement, and we feel confident that the approved facility upgrades will provide more opportunities for our students to meet these new challenges.

In addition, and perhaps most importantly, we also believe that we will now be able to provide a safer and more secure educational environment for our children. As we all know, they are the most valuable asset to our community. Support of this building project demonstrates the commitment this community has to its youth and the value it places on education.

The board wishes to acknowledge the work of the facilities committee who spent over a year evaluating the districts current and future needs. Their time and effort laid the foundation for the work that will be done in the upcoming months.

Ticonderoga has always been a community that has cared about its youth and supported their education. The results of the Sept. 25 vote are one more example of that care and support. As board members we are custodians of one of the most valuable institutions in this community, and as such we thank all of you for your commitment and support.
