NEWCOMB The Newcomb Town Board held its Bi-monthly meeting Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Newcomb Town Hall. First on the agenda was a tentative budget submitted by the town clerk for the Town of Newcomb.
Next, a resolution was made to enter into contract with North Country Life Flight. Next, the water and sewer billing was entered into the minutes and also the 2007 Lifeguard Report.
Then Canon discussed that Oxycair Technologies will be submitting a proposal that will provide long-lasting solutions to the water treatment plant for the town. Also discussed was a positive test for chloroform at the ski tow spring. Since the spring was closed, there are a lot of people upset that depend on the water.
Canon suggested that a sign be put up stating that the water can be used as long as it is boiled first. Next, there was a vote to approve a golf course pick-up truck.
Paul Hai, from the Adirondack Ecological Center attended the meeting to discuss a grant. He would like the Town of Newcomb to submit a grant proposal on their letterhead that they would write up. It would be a feasibility study on the use of wood in the surrounding forest.
Canon discussed how the town set up a plan before similar to that called System 6 but it never took off. They even went to trade shows to let people know that the wood was available.
Meanwhile, Paul Hai said he would submit a draft of the grant by Nov. 16 for the town to approve.
The meeting was adjourned and the next Board Meeting is scheduled for Oct.16 at 7 p.m. at the Newcom
