Meet the goats behind the cheese

THURMAN Fans of Nettle Meadow Goat Farm cheese can now enjoy a visit to the farm.

Nettle Meadow Goat Farm and Cheese Company will be hosting its annual Open House with Cheese Tasting and Farm Tour on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

The afternoon will feature free cheese tastings, free food featuring goat cheese and a free farm tour so that visitors can meet the goats behind Nettle Meadow cheese along with their barnyard friends. A tent will be in place so everyone can enjoy the day, rain or shine.

Nettle Meadow Goat farm is a 50-acre 170-head goat dairy and cheese company located in Thurman, just below Crane Mountain. Nettle Meadow distributes natural goat cheeses to restaurants and retailers in over twenty states. The farm is committed to happy and healthy animals and natural ingredients. Each of their cheeses is carefully handcrafted. Nettle Meadow features several varieties of fresh flavored chevre in addition to semi-aged cheeses. Nettle Meadow is known best for their trademark cheese, known as Kunik, which was named in the prestigious Murray's Handbook of Cheese as one of the three hundred best cheeses in the world this year.
