Hiking with the kids: A healthy alternative to TV

Of course there are numerous factors to consider when venturing into the wilds of the Adirondacks. Always let someone know where you are going, check the weather and be prepared for changing conditions. Carry a pack with appropriate clothing, map, compass, first- aid kit, water, snacks, bug repellent and equipped survival kit. Being prepared can make a difference, possibly save a life and definitely make for a more enjoyable experience. There are numerous publications and other resources available on hiking, backpacking and outdoor skills that should be perused before venturing into the wilds.

There are diverse and numerous wonders to experience along the trail as well as ample opportunities to bond and share quality time. It is truly a fantastic way to spend time as a family. Pick a good day, plan and prepare appropriately and enjoy the opportunity. Most of all, enjoy your kids. They grow up awfully fast!
