HEAP planning for winter

ELIZABETHTOWNThe Essex County HEAP Department has announced its outreach schedule to apply for HEAP for the 2007-2008 season, which begins on Nov. 1. Applicants who received HEAP last year or who receive Food Stamps or Temporary Assistance benefits do not need to go to the sites and should call 873-3446 or 3445 if they have not been notified of eligibility by Nov. 30. Other individuals who would like to apply for HEAP will need to appear in person at any of the following sites. No appointments will be scheduled as this a walk-in service.

Applicants who want to be seen in Elizabethtown will need to call 873-2441 for an appointment after Nov. 1. Applicants must bring proof of all gross income for the previous four weeks, proof of residence, proof of identification for all household members, birth certificates for applicants under six years of age, and proof of fuel/utility dealer. The following are the gross income limits for the number of household members: 1 - $1,876, 2 - $2,454, 3 - $3,031, 4 - $3,609, 5 - $4,186, 6 - $4,763, 7 - $4,871, 8 - $4,980, 9 - $5,088, 10 - $5,196, 11 - $5,626, 11+ add $435.
