NEWCOMB It was a beautiful day for the dedication of the Boathouse Restoration at Camp Santanoni on a recent Friday.
First, everyone met at the Gate House and then took a 5-mile horse and wagon trip into Santanoni where a luncheon was served, provided by the town of Newcomb.
Speakers at the dedication included Howard Kirschenbaum founding President of Adirondack Architectural Heritage and author of Santanoni a book about the history of Camp Santanoni; Susan Pruyn King, grand-daughter of Robert Pruyn who was the original owner; Carol Tummins Vroman, daughter of Art Tummins who was the last caretaker; and George Canon, Newcomb town supervisor.
Michael Frenette from Tupper Lake did the restoration, which was underwritten by the Town of Newcomb.
