Adirondack Museum hosts museum store association

BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE The Adirondack Museum welcomed 38 members of the North Atlantic Chapter of the Museum Store Association at its Blue Mountain Lake, New York campus for the group's Annual Fall Meeting on Sept. 16 and 17, 2007.

According to Victoria Sandiford, the museum's Manager of Retail Operations, attendance at the meeting was the best it has been in several years. Sandiford was President of the organization in 1999.

The North Atlantic Chapter includes museum stores in all New England States, the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, the Maritimes, Europe, Israel, and the Middle East.

Presenters included Rosemary McCormick, President of the Shop America Alliance and Phil Zuckerman, President of Applewood Books. The Annual Fall Meeting provides a venue for a peer-to-peer exchange of ideas, solutions to common problems, and networking.

Participants arrived on Sunday, September 16 to tour Adirondack Museum exhibits, store, and grounds. The Adirondack Hotel in Long Lake, N.Y. provided accommodations for attendees.

Representatives from the following museums attended the meeting: Fort Ticonderoga, Tang Museum at Skidmore College, The Wild Center, Hyde Collection, the Schenectady Museum, Seaway Trail Discovery Center, Peabody Essex Museum, DeCordova Museum, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, New England Ski Museum, Newport Mansions, Berkshire Museum, Salt Museum, Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Maine Audubon, and the Stonington Historical Society.
