The Vergennes Seth Warner Chapter, NSDAR, officials announced their 2007 Recognition Award recipients: 2007 Good Citizen Awards For outstanding qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism. Three students from a schools current graduating class are nominated by faculty members for this award. The senior class then elects their Good Citizen recipient from the three: This years Good Citizens are Sonja Oosterman and Judson Hescock, 2007 graduates of VUHS and MUHS respectively. Sonja also received the title of First Runner-up for the State in the Good Citizen Essay contest. 2007 American History Essay Contest Awards: Samantha Connor, 2007 graduate of MUHS, won not only Chapter, State, and Northeastern Division Levels for her essay, but also went on to receive third place on the National Level. Erin Connor, Samanthas sister, received both Chapter and State first-place awards at the 6th grade level for her Jamestown Colony essay. 2007 Community Service Award: Don Bicknell, long-time Vergennes physician, was presented with our 2007 Community Service award in recognition of his countless hours of community service to the citizens of Vergennes and neighboring towns. The NSDAR, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
