Town solicits bed tax grant requests

JOHNSBURG During 2007, the Johnsburg Town Board changed the process for applying for grants from the county Occupancy Tax proceeds that the town receives. Rather than allowing organizations to submit applications throughout the year, the board decided that it would be more equitable to have organizations submit their applications prior to the start of the year so that the board could consider all the applications at the same time. The reasoning being that doing so would prevent any group from having an advantage over another group simply because of timing of their application. To that end, the board is requesting that any group or organization that will ask for funding in 2008 through the occupancy tax must submit its application prior to the last town board meeting of 2007, which falls on Dec. 18. Applications should be filed at the Town Hall in North Creek.
