Furry fest to benefit humane society

SARANAC LAKE Mans best friend is getting a helping hand from some local college students. Musicians from Paul Smiths College are donating their skills to raise funds for the Tri-Lakes Humane Socety. The Fall Fest for Furry Friends will take place on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. at Paul Smiths College. A concert will be presented by Paul Smith's students and faculty, and students will also serve up delicious hors d'oeuvres. The event will also include a silent auction, which features one night stays at both Lake Placid Lodge and the Mirror Lake Inn (breakfast included for both), and a host of goods donated by local businesses. It's a significant fundraiser for us. A large portion of the ticket price plus all of the proceeds from the Silent Auction will go to support the Humane Society's services, said Humane Society Board Member Melinda Little. Little said it was an opportunity for people to show support for the TLHS while enjoying an evening that promises to be great fun. Tickets are $35. For more information, call the shelter at 891-0017. Little explained that people who were unable to attend could consider offering to help out by volunteering at the shelter. Donations are also accepted, and can be sent directly to the TLHS, 255 George LaPan Memorial Highway, PO Box 1111, Saranac Lake 12983.
