FMLA overview this Tuesday

PLATTSBURGH An overview and update regarding the Family and Medical Leave Act will be given during a workshop offered by the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce this Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the chamber of commerce offices, 7061 State Route 9. The workshop, which will be held from 8-11 a.m., is aimed at human resources professionals from companies or organizations with more than 50 employees who must comply with FMLA and its regulations. Jacqueline M. Kelleher, Stafford, Owens, Curtin & Trombley, P.C., will lead the discussion with an overview of the FMLA, after almost 15 years and attempt to address nuts and bolts issues in following the law, addressing questions like how to manage employee requests, when FMLA is appropriate and when other options should be used, information about the incremental option, how to create policies that will be consistent with the law and clear to the employees, and new developments, regulations, or rulings that affect the way companies must implement FMLA. An outline and reference material will be provided. The cost of the workshop is $15 for Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber members and $30 for non-members. This program has been submitted to New York Job Service Employer Committee for 2.5 recertification credit hours toward Professional in Human Resources and Senior Professional in Human Resources recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute.
