To the Editor: Peter Macfarlanes brocaded rant against Keith Lockitch's Guest Viewpoint (Oct. 27 Eagle) uses dross instead of gold and silver to emphasize his points. According to Macfarlane, Lockitchs two points are:environmentalists are against buying anything and the goal of environmentalism...is to preserve nature untouched. Neither of these is true, says Macfarlane. His denial of Lockitchs points is bizarre, since to make it Macfarlane must eliminate quite a number of professed environmental groups to reach his conclusion. Macfarlane produces a bit of fluff on energy by the self-named Friends of the Earth which he claims has never been refuted in 11 years. No one composed and credentialed pays a bit of attention to it for it is absent meaning. Not absent meanings are these quotes by the more vociferous members of the environmental family. You the reader may use the quotes as guides in adjudging the accuracy of Lockitchs statements.
