Crown Point Junior Miss crowned following program

CROWN POINT With 10 weeks of practice over, the Crown Point 2008 Junior Miss, Ashley Peters, was selected from a group of six senior girls recently. Peters was chosen to represent the community at the state program in Buffalo in March 2008. The theme to this years program was All She Wants to Do is Dance. The program was choreographed by Lisa Harrington, Erica Peters and Jen LaFountain. The girls preformed high-energy routines in fitness and self-expression. The girls chose a 90-second piece to showcase their talents. The contestants had their interviews earlier that afternoon with the judges. Their scholastic ability was judged by the Admission Department at Plattsburgh State. The contestant included Peters, Jordan McGinness, Nicole Foote, Blair Marshall, Carrie Lillibridge and Elina Terentyeva. The girls worked with third-grade girls on what it was To Be Your Best Self. The little girls danced in the opening number with their Big Sisters. After the contestants were done with Self Expression, the little girls answered the question on stage To Be My Best Self is To ... At the end of the evening, Peters was selected Junior Miss, and received the scholastic and self-expression awards. Marshall was first runner-up and won the fitness award. McGinness received the interview category. Foote won talent. Terentyeva received the Be Your Best Self presentation award. The contestants selected Lillibridge to receive the Spirit of Junior Miss title. A total of $3,000 in scholarships was won by the contestants. The master of ceremonies was Steve Pelkey from WOKO Radio.
