Christmas in Warrensburgh turns 19

WARRENSBURG The 19th annual Christmas in Warrensburgh celebration entitled Toyland will be held the weekend of Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & 2. Sponsored by Warrensburgh Beautification, a non-profit organization and committee of the town, this long standing tradition brings our community, young and old alike, together during this festive season for spiritual and cultural enrichment. This years theme embodies the true essence of the event, celebrating the child in all of us. An old fashioned holiday celebration, it includes participants from throughout the Adirondacks and beyond, showcasing local and regional talent, and welcoming visitors from throughout the Northeast. Highlights of the weekend events are as follows: Friday, Nov. 30, 6 - 9 p.m. Festival of Trees House Tour, John G. Smith House c.1910, 63 Hudson St. Saturday, Dec. 1 Church Bazaars and Luncheons, Cookie Walks and Food Sales at Countryside Adult Home, First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, Holy Cross and St. Cecilias Roman Catholic churches. Open Houses - Local businesses Craft Demonstrations - Riverside Gallery and Miller Art & Frame, with traditional rug hooking by Joan Mohrmann, spinning and weaving by Serendipity Spinners, Porcupine Quill Work by Thomas Mowatt and Watercolor Painting by Mary Chaffee Frank. Richards Library - Faerie Tales with Lady Slipper - 11 a.m., 2 p.m.Woodland Indians view on Nurturing the Earth with Larry Francis - 12:30 p.m. Coffee Room (at the Pillars) - 1 - 3 p.m.The Big Caribou Herd: Life in the Artic National Refuge - visit with author/illustrator Bruce Hiscock and learn to draw a reindeer. The Pillars - Noon - 4 p.m. Rides and photos with miniature horses Sweet Lady and Frog. TOYLAND at Emerson town hall, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. US Postal Special Holiday Cancellation Face Painting Decorate a Gingerbread House Create an Ornament Spin Art, Beading, Stuff-a-Critter Wooden Toy Workshop with Sky Gregson Life Size Candyland Game Maple Cotton Candy Operation Santas Elves Photos with Santa Visit with Gingerbread the Reindeer Christmas Tree Lightinb Ceremony at Floyd Bennett Bandstand, 6 p.m. Warrensburgh High School Jazz Band Blessing of the Tree Caroling with Cub Scout Pack 31 and area Girl Scouts Arrival of Santa and Lighting of the Tree Hot Chocolate & CookiesFollowing the ceremony, Hearts in Harmony concert at the First United Methodist Church, 7 p.m. Country & Christmas Karaoke - Ashes Hotel, 7 p.m. Holiday Dinner Specials - Local Restaurants Sunday, Dec. 2 Holiday Craft Fair - The Lodge on Echo Lake, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Breakfast with Santa - The Merrill Magee House, 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Crafts, Cookies & Carols - First Presbyterian Church, 2 - 4 p.m. Goldie Hitchcocks 100th Birthday Celebration Ashes Hotel,1 p.m. Free Buffet Winter in Warrensburgh Art Contest (WCS K-6 and 7-12 grades) entries will be on display at Carmellas Deli throughout the holidays.
