Christmas Express headed to Schroon Lake

SCHROON LAKE The Childrens Christmas Express will again attempt to make holidays brighter for Schroon Lake and North Hudson youngsters. The elves at Christmas Express are very busy getting things together to spread more holiday cheer this upcoming holiday season, said Patti Mehm of the Christmas Express committee. As in numerous years past, toys are gathered from within the community for approximately 40 local children, ranging from infants to 13 years old and then those special items are delivered to each household. Wish Trees are located in Stewarts Shop and The Towne Store. The children have designated specific items that they are hoping to receive this year which are listed on each wish. After taking a wish from a tree, people are asked to purchase the item and take it unwrapped to one of the drop box locations as soon as possible and no later then Dec. 17. There are drop boxes for new toys and clothing at The Towne Store, Glens Falls Bank, Senior Center and Lake Side Manor. There will also be Holiday Cans for cash donations at Mt. Severance Store, Gokeys Trading Post, Sunoco Gas Station, Stewarts Shop and The Towne Store. Checks can also be mailed to Christmas Express, 276 Alder Meadow Road, Schroon Lake 12870. The Towne Store will either discount each toy purchased at its location by 30 percent or make a 35 percent donation (of purchase price) to the Childrens Christmas Express for additional purchases.
