Christmas in Bolton Landing
On the weekend of Dec. 1 and 2, Bolton will be bustling with activity, thanks to a joint venture of The Bolton Chamber of Commerce and the Bolton Business Association. A good weekend to shop, dine and stroll through town from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A local artist show with over a dozen local artists will be in the town hall on both days from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mark Perry will be in concert accompanied by Bonnie Donnelly at the Blessed Sacrament Church on Goodman Avenue at 7 p.m. Free-will donations will be accepted to benefit Tori Persons and Christine Perry funds. On Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. Santa will ride along on hay rides with the children. Faces by Ferdinand will be at the library to paint childrens faces along with Chips Kid Stuff from 1 to 3 p.m. Hot dogs, cocoa and hot cider will be available in the park and the big tree will be lit about 4 p.m. A carol sing will be held at the tree and DJ Andy Pratt will be on hand to keep the music moving. A special night is set for teenagers between ages 13 17 at the Rec Center on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Bobby Dick and the Sundowners will entertain at Fredericks from 5 to 9. All weekend local merchants will be open for shopping, and will serve holiday refreshments and provide entertainment. Please donate a hat and mittens for a local child. Christmas Cantata
A beautiful way to start the Christmas season, the Christmas Cantata, will be performed at Saint Sacrement Church on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. The cantata is "Child of Peace" which will be sung by the Chestertown ecumenical choir accompanied by Robert Flachbarth on piano, Al Tolemeo on drums, Todd Lawson on guitar, and conducted by Lenore Simpson. Soloists for "Child of Peace" will be Kathy Tennyson andWarrensburg High School students Nicole Newell, Jonathan Newell, and Todd Lawson. It is open to the public. A free-will donation will go tothe Bolton After School Program. Angels Aware!
A Christmas program for the whole family will be held at the Solid Rock Assembly of God Church on Sunday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. The children cast a heavenly view of the reason God came to earth as a baby, which is the premise of the presentation. This presents the Christmas story from another perspective. The church is located on Church Hill Road, between County Route 11 and Federal Hill Road. Plenty of free parking. Light refreshments will be served following the program. Town recreation opening
There is presently an opening on the Bolton Town Recreation Commission. Prospective members should be interested in year round recreation of youth activities as well and the entire summer recreation program. Anyone who would like to become active in guiding these activities should contact the town supervisor at the town hall. Landfill on winter schedule
The landfill has reverted to winter hours. It will be closed all day on Mondays and Wednesdays and open all other days from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and closed all day Thanksgiving.
