Counter to take the reins at OV

BRANDON Ray Counter, 46, of Brandon, Vermont will be the new head coach for the Otter Valley Otters girls basketball team for the upcoming season. Counter will be replacing Chris Wood who had coached the Otters for the past two seasons, including a 14 - 6 regular season record last year, missing a trip to Barre by just one game. That team however graduated six seniors, including all five starters. Wood left the position because he moved to Virginia. Though coaching varsity basketball may be a new experience for Counter, coaching isnt. He has coached basketball at Otter Valley for the past nine years, compiling a 123 - 28 record, covering the seventh grade, eighth grade and freshman levels. But Counter isnt blinded by past success. This is a entirely different level, he states on his new position. I think my biggest challenge will be making all the adjustments I need to both personally, and team wise. Counters coaching resume also includes twelve seasons of girls AAU basketball and he has been the junior varsity softball coach at Otter Valley for the past eleven years. He is looking forward to the challenge of coaching at the varsity level, and to the upcoming season. My goal for the team this year is to develop team unity and chemistry. We wish him and his team success in reaching those goals.
