The complete package

It looks as if winter has finally arrived in the High Peaks and were all getting ready for a busy holiday season. I just returned from a media reception in New York City sponsored by I Love NY, along with ORDA and seven other New York State ski resorts. The reception kicked off the official start of this years ski and snowboard season around the state, which promises to be a great one. While our counterparts in the ski and destination industry each strongly represented their locations, I came away from the reception even more confident in our ability to maintain a cutting-edge standing among the top ski resorts and communities in the east. We have more than just great skiing and snowboarding we have the whole package. Travelers are looking for more than just steep trails and fast lift service. They come to sample the entire destination and the Adirondack High Peaks region has everything theyre looking for. The village of Lake Placid has all the best dining, lodging, and activities for basically everyone who visits, year-round. This gives our destination the edge up in that we offer that package. There is as much apr_ ski enjoyment in town as there is fun on the mountain. As a great example of this continuing effort to strive for the most innovative and creative method of drawing travelers to our area, the Visitors Bureau has set up for the second year in a row a comprehensive web utility by which lodging proprietors and Whiteface Mountain can combine their packages into one. Lodging properties can update their packages and rates based on availability and the customers specific preferences in a wide variety of options. This streamlines the process of reserving room and ski packages for the traveler, and helps the lodging properties by giving them the tools to make their products available directly. We feel that with ideas such as this and the simply amazing skiing, coupled with our fantastic complete destination package in Lake Placid and the High Peaks that we can continue to strive for excellence in the destination industry.
