Indian Lake plans "Made in the Adirondacks" Christmas Tour

INDIAN LAKE Made in the Adirondacks is the theme for the Tenth Annual Indian Lake Country Christmas Tour (CCT) to be held Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event began in 1998 and has become one of the premiere annual events held in this quiet hamlet located in the south-central Adirondacks at the junctions of State Routes 28 and 30. The CCT features self guided tours of over 50 local artisans and crafters who will offer unique holiday gift items for sale in their homes and at numerous locations throughout the Town. Gift items for sale include birch bark mirrors and picture frames, quilts, baskets, holiday wreaths and table centerpieces, Christmas ornaments, swags, candles, rustic furniture, wool and Alpaca clothing, home baked goodies and a variety of handcrafted gifts for the whole family. Many shoppers return to Indian Lake each year to get a jump on holiday shopping by purchasing their gifts during the CCT. Shoppers who will be visiting Indian Lake for the first time will be able to locate artisans and crafters with ease. CCT Brochures/Maps are available at the Chamber of Commerce, Town Hall and at many businesses throughout the town. In addition to great shopping opportunities, the CCT continues to offer holiday fun activities for families. Father Christmas will make his annual trek to Indian Lake to welcome visitors throughout the two-day event and to pose for souvenir photos. In addition, CCT festivities include the Annual Community Tree Lighting Ceremony at dusk on Friday evening, Open House at the historic Beckary House, Birch Bark and Twig Frame and Spinning demonstrations, The Indian Lake Museum, and for youngsters, two free hands-on craft making workshops. On Friday, the Buddy Basket workshop will be held, and on Saturday, the Country Christmas Crafts for Kids. (pre- registration is recommended) The 2007 Country Christmas Tour will end with an Adirondack style Bonfire Closing Ceremony. The Ceremony will include a visit with Father Christmas, the Let There Be Lights town lighting contest cash awards, door prizes and raffles, courtesy of CCT artisans and crafters, DJ Bob Marriott and free cappuccino and cookies.
