Community aids in dog search

To the editor: On Thursday, Nov. 8, our youngest dog got away from family members doing a hero mission. As with most pet owners our dogs are our kids and we were heart broken thinking he might be lost forever. The support we received from our family, friends and neighbors will never be forgotten. So many people went out and looked for him, called others, put out posters or just simply called to check on Larry and myself. It is quite overwhelming to think that so many cared about us and a little dog - it will never be forgotten. A special thanks to our parents, Leslie, Chris, Karlee, Susie and Sienna, the Office for the Aging staff especially Sue, Krissy and Wendy, Tanya, Jim, Karen, Bucky, Honora and Etown-Lewis Emergency squad members, Kim Feeley who called all over Lewis, Audrey at the Post Office, trappers who either pulled their traps or went out and checked them for us, Newcomb Rescue Squad and all our neighbors who called and checked on us. A special thank you to Eldred Hutchins who let us borrow his 4 wheeler so we could cover more ground. Chance came back on his own after 27 hours in the woods none the worse for wear. Again, a heartfelt thank you. Patty and Larry Bashaw
