RUTLAND Through the support of Chittenden Bank and the talented performers of our region, United Way of Rutland County raised over $7,000 in support of our communitys 2007 campaign. With a crowd of over 700 in attendance, Curbstone Chorus, a large barbershop quartet won the overall event singing Barbershop Selections. The male group won the crowd and judges over, winning both their category and the overall trophy. Other category winners included a group of 11-12 year olds from Grand Performance Studio of Dance performing to Lets Go Crazy, Cassandra Brooke Lang also from Grand Performance Studio of Dance in the 13-14 age group for her dance to Wild Horses, and Zach Pena and Danielle LaPlante in the 16 and up category for their innovative Hip Hop dance. Kayla Kenny was the first recipient of the Spirit of Mary Byrne Award. Mary Byrne was a treasured member of our community and an instrumental part of making the show as successful as it has become. This years show was dedicated to memory of Mary Byrne. It was a great event for the performers, our community and United Way of Rutland County, said Pat Wener, Vice President of the Chittenden Bank and Event Coordinator for the 2nd year in a row. We cant thank volunteers like Sam Gorruso, Brian Mayhew, Zach Razanouski, Gayle Lang, Carl Wener, Ron Bower and so many others for the success of the show.
