Fire damages antiques store

A fire broke out in downtown Bristol during the early morning of Nov. 2; it prompted firefighters to evacuate residents of an adjoining apartment-residence building. A Bristol-area fire crew responded quickly and arrived on the scene of the fire around 7 a.m. The fire broke out in an antiques store fronting Main Street. Meanwhile, residents of the larger apartment building next door to the store was evacuated by a fire-emergency crew. According to Bristols Assistant Fire Chief Peter Coffey, the blaze was put out shortly after firefighters arrived on Main Street. An artists studio in the rear of the antiques store was not damaged. Coffey said no one was hurt in the store, studio or apartment building. Despite damage to the stores inventory, the building can be repaired.
