Farm and Family continues to offer quality at its new location

PLATTSBURGH Quality. To some, it's merely a word, but to the employees of Farm and Family Boots and Clothing, it's a building block on which the business' nearly 20-year reputation stands. With a new name and new focus, the former Farm and Family Center welcomes customers to their new location at 550 State Route 3, behind Taylor Rental Center. Though Farm and Family no longer carries a line of hardware, the business more than compensates with an increased offering of the quality line of boots, clothing and accessories customers have come to expect. "We have a very large selection, and if we do not carry it in the store, we are more than happy to special order it at no extra charge," said store manager Dorothy E. Blew. Carhartt, Woolrich, Chippewa, Red Wing, Dickies, Levi and Carolina are just a few of the many well-known, classic brands Farm and Family continues to carry, offering high quality to get customers through North Country winters. From thermal underwear to socks, sweat shirts to overalls, hats to jeans and nearly everything in between Farm and Family has a full line of family clothing to keep you dressed for the elements and maintain functionality at the same time. What separates Farm and Family apart from many other retail stores, however, is the close customer service their employees offer. "We never rush anybody, we let them take their time and we answer any questions they have," said Ms. Blew. "We usually have enough staff on that we can care for customers on a one-to-one basis. That's something that's becoming more rare these days but it's something that's important." Employing several associates who have worked for them more than 10 years including Ms. Blew herself who started when the business originally opened in 1987 Farm and Family prides itself on being a familiar face in the community, ready to lend a hand. "The faces of employees change so frequently in a lot of your chains," Ms. Blew said of big-box retailers. "One week you deal with one person and the next week they're gone. We have people who have been in our department for more than 10 years, and they know they can count on them to know what they want. People like that, even in this day and age; it's that personal touch." Farm and Family Boots and Clothing is open at their new State Route 3 location Monday, Tuesday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Checks, credit and debit cards, and of course, cash, are accepted. (Editor's Note: The business' original location at the former North Country Shopping Center on State Route 9 is still open for now as merchandise is being liquidated at prices of 40-60 percent off, said Ms. Blew.)
