Redhawks capture sixth straight Division I boys soccer title; Football team eliminated from playoffs

HINESBURG The top-seeded CVU boys soccer squad fended off #2 Essex to secure a 2-1 victory at the Division I championship last Saturday. The win increases CVUs title streak to six and caps off an undefeated season. Freshman Tino Tomasi and senior Kyle Carrier scored for the Redhawks, with Tomasi scoring as the first half of play winded down and Carrier clinching the match with approximately 25 minutes left in the game. In addition to the title run, CVUs boys soccer program now holds 16 titles, tying them with Division III Proctor. Tomasi was injured for some of the regular season, but onlookers wouldnt have known while watching him play in the championship. His first half goal came off an assist from Lucas Hawley. Carrier secured the game off an assist from Tyler Macnee. CVU only allowed five goals all season long.
