To the Editor: S.175 is a bill currently before the legislature to require supervisory union central offices to submit their budgets to voters. The way it is now, principals' budgets have to be passed by voters, but not superintendents' budgets. This represents over $120 million of Vermont education spending that is not held accountable to voters. I would ask that readers who are concerned about unchecked spending growth and high taxes please assist us with our efforts by downloading a petition from www.fcevt.com, signing it, and getting a few friends to sign it, too. The return address is at the bottom of the petition. For a few minutes worth of effort, we can slow the growth of rapidly increasing state spending. Curtis Hier
