NFL Picks: The undefeated stage is set

I was talking with fellow co-worker, picker, and football fan Dan Alexander Jr. Monday morning, and we both had the same feeling about Week 8 it just didnt have the usual excitement, despite the fact that both our teams won.

I certainly was thrilled Big Blue came away with a win in London, but with no passing game on either side, it was, well, dull. Dans a Bills fan, and he, too, was happy to get a W, but admits to being a bit ho-hum watching the game.

Im not sure what the point of this is, but I found it pretty interesting.

On a housekeeping note: I had a slight issue with calculations for Week 7, specifically the Denver/Pittsburgh game. The spreadsheet I use registered all picks as a loss, therefore the eight people who went with Denver were shorted a win. Theyve all been corrected, and the only one with real significance in our contest was John Santasier. That pick would have given him a one-game lead over John Gereau. Santasier put in a strong 11-2 Week 8 and, rightfully, remains alone in first place.

But it was a couple of Studnickys George Jr. and Nancy, who took top honors with near-perfect picks of 12-1.

In a non-football matter, congratulations to picker Eddie Munoz of Olmstedville, who recently competed in the Detroit Free Press Marathon, where he qualified for next years Boston Marathon. Congratulations and good luck!

So, now the stage is set: Undefeated World Champion Indianapolis Colts vs. the undefeated New England Patriots. Man, this should be good. Personally, I think the Colts have played much better teams than the Patsies have so far this season. The speedy Indy defense will be able to pressure Brady something no one has done yet, allowing him to sit in the pocket all day and pick people apart. New England will get pressure on Manning as well, but hes got the skill to get rid of the ball in a hurry.
