CROWN POINT The 22nd annual Crown Point Junior Miss scholarship program will be Saturday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Crown Point Central School auditorium. This year tickets are being sold in advance for $6 each. To purchase them see Kim Woods at the Champlain National Bank in Crown Point or Bette Pertak at the school office. No tickets will be sold at the door. It's hard to believe that the program has been part of our community for that long, said Lisa Harrington a program committee member. We are proud to report that the program has given out over $40,000 in college scholarship awards over the past 20 years. Competing for the Crown Point Junior Miss title are Ashley Peters, Carrie Lillibridge, Jordan McGinness, Blair Marshall, Elina Terentyeva and Nicole Foote. These girls have been working very hard since the beginning of September to prepare an exciting and entertaining show for you, Harrington said. We also have eight little sisters joining in our Be Your Best Self portion of the program. Intermission entertainment will be provided by the members of the Crown Point Central School junior class, who will model fashions from The Fashion Corner and Sagans. The master of ceremonies will be Steve Pelkey of WOKO radio. The Crown Point Junior Miss committee would like to thank all of the people and local businesses for their monetary and gift donations to the program, Harrington said. Without your generosity we would not be able to provide scholarships to so many promising young women. Every little bit helps these girls with the growing burden of paying for college. If anyone would like to make a contribution to the program, be it monetary or a gift for our raffles the night of the show, please contact Bette Pertak or Jill Spring at 597-3285 or 597-3789. The winner of the 2008 Crown Point Junior Miss program will go on to compete in the 2008 New York State Junior Miss show in Buffalo on March 29, 2008, at Rockwell Hall on the campus of Buffalo State University. The 51st annual Americas Junior Miss national finals will be held in Mobile, Alabama in June 2008.
