CHESTERTOWN Sue Dean, author of A Violet Tapestry, a trilogy of her experiences living off the grid in the Adirondacks, will speak at the next Authors Series of the Friends of the Chester Library, Friday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. Dean will discuss the dream home she and her husband built on a mountaintop in the Adirondacks and how they chose to live a pioneering adventure, shunning conveniences such as electricity and conventional indoor plumbing for a life close to the land. Their adventures and her insights are shared in a series of books that includes Unplugged in the Adirondacks, Plugged Into the Mountain Sun, and Life is Love, which contains some of Deans drawings in color. While raising three children and writing about her thoughts and her family's experiences, Dean also found time to learn the art of quilting. These days she spends her creative time designing and drawing quilts, rather than making them. She is also writing her fourth book, From the Unplugged Mind. Dean will read from her written work and share her experiences living off the grid. There will be a book signing after Deans presentation. The public is welcome to attend this presentation at the Chestertown Municipal Building. It will be followed by an open meeting of the Friends of the Chester Library where all are welcome to attend.
