Ti Knights of Columbus welcome new members

TICONDEROGA The Ticonderoga Knights of Columbus Council #333 held a First and Second Degree Exemplification on May 21 at the local council hall. The First and Second Degree are the beginning steps for Catholic men in the Columbian Order who dedicate themselves to charity and unity. New inductees can participate in all activities of their council except for holding office. Their next step will be to take the Third Degree Exemplification to become full Knights of Columbus in the Fraternal Order. The night began with a prayer led by Deacon Elliot Shaw followed by the ceremonies of the two degrees. There is a lot of preparation and work that goes into a Degree Exemplification and the Ticonderoga Council has two of the best First and Second Degree Teams in the State. There were approximately 40 members in attendance with seven new inductees. The new inductees include Christopher Besson, James Lenhart, John Dreimiller and Paul LaPointe all of Ticonderoga, Timothy Rooker of Whitehall, David Harrington of Indian Lake and Dean Peterson of Saranac Lake. During the ceremony the Degree Team Captain, Don Gijanto, announced that these two Degrees were being held in memory of Paul S. Blanchard, a Knight from January 1951 until his passing in November 1996. He was a dedicated man serving as Grand Knight in 1974 to 1975. Gijanto also announced that May 19 three local members had taken their Third Degree in Plattsburgh. They were Christopher Burns, Michael Reale and Robert Lamb. Following the ceremonies those in attendance were treated to a Knights smorgasbord prepared and served by John Lenhart, Grand Knight. Catholic men interested in joining the Knights of Columbus are encouraged to speak with a current member for sponsorship or contact the Ticonderoga council office at 585-6520.
