BOPA to host Plattsburgh Military Timeline: 1609-Present

PLATTSBURGH Have you ever wondered what Samuel De Champlain wore when he traversed Lake Champlain in 1609? Have you wanted to spend more time chatting with War of 1812 re-enactors, or comparing black powder muskets to 20th century firearms? Do you want to tour the Post Cemetery? Heres your chance! The Battle of Plattsburgh Association will host The Plattsburgh Military Timeline: 1609-Present, on Saturday and Sunday May 26 and 27. The Battle of Plattsburgh Association Campus is located at 31 Washington Rd, Old Base. While there you can tour the museums newest exhibit, The Life of the War of 1812 Soldier, and visit The History Shoppe. You can also visit the encampment and talk to re-enactors and sutlers from a variety of time periods. Look at models of modern military items. See first hand the progression of firearms from 1609 to the present during a firing demonstration, From Matchlock to Cartridge Loader. Tour the Post Cemetery on the Old Base. Schedule of Activities: Saturday May 26 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Battle of Plattsburgh Association exhibits and The History Shoppe open. 10 a.m. - Camp opens to the public. 11 a.m.-noon - Firing demonstration "From Matchlock to Cartridge Loader: Four Centuries of Firearms." 1:30-2:30 p.m. - Historic talks take place in auditorium, re-enactors give presentations about their time period. 3-4 p.m. - Firing demonstration "From Matchlock to Cartridge Loader: Four Centuries of Firearms." 5 p.m. - Camp closes to the public. Sunday May 27 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Battle of Plattsburgh Association exhibits and The History Shoppe open. 10 a.m. - Camp opens to the public. 10 a.m. - Memorial service at Old Post Cemetery for Battle of Plattsburgh dead and other military dead. 11 a.m. -noon - Firing Demonstration, "From Matchlock to Cartridge Loader: Four Centuries of Firearms." 1 p.m.-2 p.m. - Historic talks take place in auditorium, re-enactors give presentations about their time period. 2:30-3:15 p.m. - Firing demonstration "From Matchlock to Cartridge Loader: Four Centuries of Firearms." 3:30 p.m. - Camp closes to the public.
