Project benefits local seniors

INDIAN?LAKE? The first grade class at Indian Lake Central School recently completed an Earth Day project. The project was part of the Project TKE (Transforming Kids Environments) and Project TSE (Transforming Seniors' Environments.) The organization is Improving Lives; for more information visit their Web site at www.improvinglives.org. Schools, clubs, and individuals pledge to color and design spring decorations. Then the decorations are sent out to orphanages, nursing homes, and childrens hospitals across the world. Indian Lake students made spring decorations and mailed them to the Tri-County Nursing Home in North Creek. This is an organization that students visit throughout the year and play games with their special friends that are there. Visiting them helps to teach students tolerance and empathy. The Tri-County Nursing Home received the decoration and used them to make a big spring bulletin board for all of the individuals to see. The first grade students received gratification when they visited them last and saw all of the decorations nicely displayed. Upon donating, the school is listed on www.improvinglives.org as a donating school. The children enjoyed this activity and hope to do it again in the future saying that they would like to donate to a childrens hospital next.
