TICONDEROGA Heritage Commons Residential Health Care will celebrate National Nursing Home Week and Mothers Day with special events scheduled for May 13-19. This years theme, Treasure Our Elders, honors the many nursing home residents who planted the seeds that have made our community grow stronger. This week gives us a chance to honor these special residents, as well as the families, staff, volunteers and community, said Diane Krans, administrator at Heritage Commons. Heritage Commons will hold a Mothers Day Social at 2 p.m. in the Crowne Terrace Dining Room on Sunday, May 13, to kick off the beginning of National Nursing Home Week. Other events during the week include a pot luck lunch, treasure hunt, tea social recognizing residents aged 90 and older, wedding picture contest, treasured recipe swap and ice cream social. Families, friends and community members are invited to come and enjoy any of these events. To learn the daily scheduled events contact Maria Waters at 585-3776 or Carol Johnson at 585-3717. We see National Nursing Home Week as a positive way to celebrate with residents, staff and family the service Heritage Commons provides on a daily basis to the local community, said Krans. Heritage Commons Residential Health Care, part of Inter-Lakes Health, is an 84 bed nursing home located at 1019 Wicker St., Ticonderoga.
