TICONDEROGA Looking for lunch in Ti? The Corner Caf頯n the corner of Lake George Avenue and Algonkin Street now offers lunch on weekdays, in addition to breakfast every day of the week. Owners Ed and Judy Keller and Laurie Cawley became restaurateurs for the first time in March of 2006. Ed Keller explained, This is brand spanking new to us. Its been fun! The owners decided to expand on the previous menu, but maintained the $1.99 special of two eggs, meat and toast. Its a holdover to years ago, Keller said. High quality and low cost. This is the first time the Corner Caf頨as served lunch. Its a small town diner. Its clean, the food is excellent and everything is priced right, Keller said. Its homey. With the pictures of Ticonderogas past hung along the wall, the traditional counter and the fireplace surrounded by tables, the atmosphere is certainly classic. The Kellers purchased the building, built in 1941, in the early 1980s. A bakery occupied the corner space until 1972. Two more bakeries followed, until a donut shop was opened for a few years. The most recent renter then occupied the space for about 12 years, running a breakfast caf鮠 But, when the space became vacant again, Keller and family decided to give it a try. What are Kellers picks from the menu? I like the omelets. They are incredible, he said. He continued, naming ingredients that sounded like a small grocery list. Its called the mess [omelet] everythings in it. He also recommends the Pub Burger for lunch. The Corner Caf頩s open seven days a week for breakfast, from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. On weekdays the caf頳erves lunch until 2 p.m. For lunch, take out and delivery services are available.
