TICONDEROGA Fort Ticonderoga has announced the hiring of Marci Hall to the position of marketing and communications director. Hall brings national and regional sales and marketing experience and comes directly from the Lake George Steamboat Company, where she was director of group sales. She succeeds Lisa Simpson Lutts who recently moved out of state. I have been charged with promoting and invigorating the visitors experience at the fort and I look forward to a very busy and very successful year, Hall said. We will get the word out to a growing audience that many activities are available to families and groups every day from May through October. The fort houses world-renowned collections of great historical significance and also boasts the beautifully restored Kings Garden, unique in the region, she added. In addition, we are introducing this year an expanded range of hands-on programs for kids. Its time for visitors to rediscover Fort Ticonderoga. Fort Ticonderoga has added new tours, demonstrations and public programs to its 2007 calendar, as well as a rainy day schedule of activities appropriate for inclement weather. As the new education center rises within the former French warehouse on the parade ground during this final year of construction, a costumed guide will explain to visitors how the original warehouse was built in 1756. Visitors also will notice the first improvements to the landscape to be introduced under a new master site plan, completed earlier this year, including improved signage and the relocation of maintenance and grounds keeping facilities. Judging from pre-bookings, the tourism season is looking better for 2007 than it has in several years, Hall said. Were working with our community and tourism partners to capitalize on this and to help make this a memorable and successful season for our visitors and for our region. Fort Ticonderoga is open May 10 through Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily. For additional information, including a calendar of events, visit www.fort-ticonderoga.org or call 585-2821.
