JOHNSBURG Upper Hudson Festivals Inc., a newly formed not-for-profit organization which sponsors the Upper Hudson Bluegrass Festival and other musical concerts in the Town of Johnsburg, announces that on Saturday, April 14, at the Tannery Pond Community Center in North Creek, the group will sponsor two workshops for students and adults featuring the band Acoustic Blue. The first workshop from 3 to 4 p.m. will feature each member of the band working with those interested in learning about his instrument of choice. Band members are Bear Acker, bass; Mike VanAlstyne, banjo; Shaun Batho, guitar; and Corey Zink, mandolin. Visit www.acousticblueonline.com for further biographical information on the band and its members. Acoustic Blue has appeared at all three of Upper Hudson Festivals festivals, always to rave reviews, and will be returning this year. The second workshop will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. and will be a combined workshop of all the instruments/vocal to discuss the theories of putting a band together plus a possible jam. Upper Hudson Festivals is pleased to present these workshops free of charge to anyone who might be interested. Those interested in participating should register by April 5 so Upper Hudson will be able to provide the entertainers with approximate numbers and also provide appropriate space. To register, contact Lloyd Burch at 251-3141 or on line at email@example.com. The workshops will not signal the end of the day for Acoustic Blue, they will be returning to the Tannery Pond Community Center for a bluegrass concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Advance tickets for this concert will cost $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Workshop participants 15 years and older will be offered a $5 ticket to this concert.
