Resident charged with burglary

WARRENSBURG On March 23, the Warren County Sheriff's Office arrested Darrel John (D.J.) Rockwell, age 39, of Main Street in Warrensburg. He was charged with burglary in the second degree and attempted burglary in the second degree, both felonies. In November 2006, Rockwell knocked at, and then entered, the home of an elderly woman on Old Stage Road in Lake Luzerne. He apparently assumed the residence was empty as the female used a walker and was slow to come to the door. Rockwell was met by the woman inside the home and left without incident. In December 2006 Rockwell entered a home on Horicon Avenue in Warrensburg and stole property from the residence. On this occasion, he was confronted by the female homeowner as he was leaving the residence. Both of these crimes were committed during the daytime. Rockwell is on parole and fled to Vermont following the burglary in Warrensburg. He has been incarcerated in the Warren County Correctional Facility since January for a parole violation. He is responsible for multiple burglaries to homes and businesses in Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties over a period of several months. Rockwell was arraigned in Warrensburg Town Court and was returned to the correctional facility without bail.
