A series of special events will highlight the week. Tuesday, April 3, there will be a career fair 8-10:30 in the cafetorium and a book fair in the library 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, there will be fifth grade parents night at 6:30 p.m. and a sixth grade Putnam parents night at 6:30 p.m. along with the annual school science fair 7-8:30 p.m. and the book fair 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, the science fair will be open for elementary students to view 8:15 -10 a.m. and the book fair will be held 8:15 a.m. to noon. Each spring, the sixth grade class at the Ticonderoga Middle School presents the annual science fair. The fair has changed this year. Teacher Jim Burgey, encouraged the students to choose topics that do not focus on animals. They were advised to develop a question about their topic and devise a hypothesis in order to answer that question. Their project would be their attempt to test their hypothesis. The entire process focuses on the Scientific Method which scientists use to solve problems. The fair will feature 30 projects. Each science project consists of a centerpiece, supporting materials, and a short oral speech. Research for the projects is completed in the library. Some examples of the projects in this years science fair include maple sugaring, bee keeping, lightning, sound waves, the effects of music on the human brain, steamboats, aromatherapy, animation and animal behaviorism.
