Middlebury Union Middle School students grabbed the spotlight at last weekends statewide Math Counts competition held at Vermont Technical College in East Randolph. Twelve teams of 6th through 8th grade students from all over Vermont competed individually and in teams in written and a fast-paced oral matches. Subjects included geometry, probability, statistics, algebra and factorials. A total of 99 students competed for the four top individual honors, who will go on to represent Vermont at the national competition in Forth Worth, Texas, May 10-13, along with the coach of the first-placed team, Diane Guertin of Middlebury Union Middle School.
