Town Board: No plan to move into Community Center

JOHNSBURG As rumors swirl that the Town of Johnsburg has plans to move its offices across the street from the Town Hall/Library to Tannery Pond Community Center, town officials said emphatically Tuesday that it just isnt true. There have been no plans for that, said Supervisor Bill Thomas. Thereve been no discussions in any town board meeting, nothing. I dont know how the rumor got started but there is absolutely no truth to it. Thomas said there has been some shuffling of offices within Town Hall to make better use of space. Thomas moved from a large office toward the rear of the building to a small office toward the front. The move allowed two staff members to move into the larger office. Maybe thats how it started, Thomas said. People were talking about what we were doing over here and somehow it got misunderstood. I dont know. The issue was raised in a letter to the editor in recent weeks by Elise Widlund, who with her husband Woody, built and donated the building to the town to be used as a community center. Following Widlunds letter, several individuals wrote letters both to the town and the NCNE protesting the towns alleged plan to move town offices into the center. But were staying right here, Thomas reiterated. The Town of Johnsburg is perfectly happy in Town Hall.
