Special Acheivement Award Winners announced

Hannah Baker, daughter of Tammy and Timothy Baker of Thurman, is a senior at Warrensburg Jr/Sr High School. She was nominated by Tressa Gordon, SADD advisor and Sally Taibe, family and consumer sciences teacher. Hannah has done an exemplary job as SADD president this year and has actively participated in numerous activities throughout the year, Gordon said. Her fellow SADD members respect her opinion and work well under her leadership. Hannah is a cheerful, hard-working student, gets along well with other students, and often smoothes over differences they have with each other, Taibe said. :She is a wonderful example to her peers! Rahleek Dawkins, a student in the K Plus program, is the son of Maria and Rayon Dawkins of Warrensburg. In her nomination of Rahleek, Mrs. Kana said, Rahleek recently found a dollar on the playground and without hesitation turned it into the main office. When no one claimed the money, it was returned to Rahleek. He took the dollar and immediately pledged it to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This is an example of Rahleeks kindness, compassion, and consideration which he shows every day at school. The students were honored at the recent meeting of the board of education. Each student was presented with a medallion on a blue and gold ribbon and gift certificates to local businesses.
