Grant enables summer arts events

CHESTERTOWN On March 11, at the Charles R. Wood Theater, Barbara Wilson accepted an Arts Initiative Grant on behalf of the Friends of the Chester Library. This summer the friends will present Stitches in Time: a celebration of women and their handiwork. Throughout the months of July and August, the Chester Librarys Ruplin Gallery will feature examples of fiber arts from the archives of the Chester Museum and the contemporary work of local artisans who will offer instruction in various fiber art techniques at Saturday morning workshops in the library. On Aug. 18, at the Chester Municipal Centers Theater, Dan Duggan and Peggy Lynn will celebrate fiber arts in song, performing music from their popular CD, A Stitch in Time. The summer-long event will conclude with a quilt exhibition at the North Warren Central School gymnasium featuring the work of talented local quilters on Aug. 25.
